Poipet is a Cambodian border town that is extremely influential in the business sector. It is growing faster than any other city in the country and has many oportunities for industry and education. It’s a little rough around the edges and is overcoming a reputation for corruption, prostitution, and human trafficking. The people of this city are hungry! They are coming to realize that the world doesn’t satisfy, and are ready to receive the good news!
Poipet’s History
In the 70’s, during the Khmer Rouge conflict, Poipet was one of the main gateways for refugees to escape oppression into Thailand. Just across the border is where YWAM began to provide aid to the Cambodian people in Thai refugee camps. This area is the Launchpad for everything God has been doing in Cambodia through YWAM and University of the Nations.
Our Vision
We anticipate that Poipet will grow into a beautiful, developed city with flourishing businesses, beautiful parks, and world-class educational programs. Our primary focus is to eventually influence the seven spheres of society, starting with Education, Media, and Business. We realize that the gospel isn’t just for the religious, but for everyone, and is meant to be shared.
